Campbell, senior minister of the church, tells in this book why he believes that evangelical Christianity, thrust unavoidably into the current American revolution, has resources not only to participate in the revolution, but the responsibility to shape and direct it. We are living in the time of Christian secularity, says the author. who believes that the church in the U.S. is in grave danger of coming apart on the question of whether the gospel is personal or social. Dr. Campbell takes the Bible seriously and criticizes church activists for their insensitivity to the vertical dimension of belief in Jesus Christ as a vital, saving presence in people s lives.
