Hardcover. Condizione: Very Good. Condizione sovraccoperta: Good. 8vo, 202pp, Illustrated. Some minor staining to front endpaper and fore-edge o/w text in Good+ condition. Green Cloth with gilt spine in Very Good condition. Dust Jacket spine faded some creasing o/w in fair condition. "Angus MacLellan was regarded throughout his…own lifetime as one of Scotland's finest traditional Gaelic storytellers. Reminiscences of his life were first recorded - on tape in Gaelic - in the early years of the 1960s and later transcribed and translated by John Lorne Campbell into this English-language biography. Born in 1869 into a poverty-stricken crofting community on South Uist, Angus MacLellan spent his childhood and his youth with his family before travelling from the island to find work first in the militia and then on the farms of the mainland. His travels came to an end when he returned to assist and eventually to succeed, his parents on their croft on South Uist in 1896. Angus MacLellan's memory for detail and his gift for telling should bring to the reader a vivid picture of a harsh lifestyle encompassing two centuries of dramatic change".

Octavo hardcover (VG) in d/w (scruffy); all our specials have minimal description to keep listing them viable. They are at least reading copies, complete and in reasonable condition, but usually secondhand; frequently they are superior examples. Quarter cloth. Condizione: Good. No dj. First Edition. No date, presumed c.1900. A fascinating trawl through the history of lands disputed by the two parties, witness testimony and expert contributions detailing events back to the time of Bruce and beyond. After a long browse, I still cannot relate what the dispute was about. Th…ere is a folding family tree chart of Angus John Campbell of Dunstaffnage going back to the 1400's, and the latest date mentioned is 1888. A little tear at the corner and folded badly but clean enough. The rear board has detached, easy to fix as the spine is plain royal blue cloth. xiii+386pp.+ folding genealogy chart. Size: Folio.
