Cloth a little marked, bumped and rubbed; two corners very slightly worn with trifling loss; flyleaves discoloured; title page lightly offset; edges and initial leaves a little foxed; occasional light foxing; rear hinge slightly torn; overall, in very good condition. Life in New Guinea in the aftermath of the 1914 removal of the Germans by the Australian Naval and Military Expeditionary Force, and some of the issues facing Australian colonisation in NG (Australia received a mandate from the League of Nations to govern PNG in 1921). 'In addition, [Lyng] devoted his attention to ethnology and anthropology [and] became greatly interested in the manners and customs of the native races' (from the 9-page preface by Seaforth Mackenzie).
