Aggiungi al carrelloHardcover. Condizione: Very Good. Condizione sovraccoperta: Very Good. 1st Edition. Bantam Books, New York. 1988. 198 pages including index. First edition, first printing with full numberline including number one. This is the uncommon First American edition, first printing that survived the recall and subsequently, escaped being destroyed, like the majority were. Hawking's disapproval began with the book being manufactured without a dedication page, and a contents page. The book was re-issued with corrections, and a navy color DJ; unlike the original silver/gray one. $18.95 price intact on DJ. DJ is bright and clean with minor handling and shelf-wear. A tiny rub at crown. Small faint cloud outline on flap. Book is tight. Binding and hinges are strong and sound. Black paper-covered boards quarterbound in black cloth. Twp small faint marks on rear panel. Minimal sunning along edges. Blue endpapers are bright and clean. Small pen mark on half-title page. A couple of small spots on acknowledgments pages. Faint wrinkle to upper corner tip of pages in rear. All flaws noted. First American edition, first printing of the original, recalled edition, with requisite manufacturing flaws. A gently handled, VG/VG 1st/1st with flaws noted.…

Aggiungi al carrelloFirst US edition, the suppressed first printing, with the correct jacket, of one of the most popular science works of all time. Sagan's introduction lauds Hawking as "a worthy successor" to Newton and Dirac, two of his predecessors as Lucasian Professor of Mathematics. The first US edition was published simultaneously with the UK edition in April 1988. This first printing had a number of errors and was subsequently recalled for destruction. It is identifiable by its light blue endpapers, lack of contents page or dedication statement, and the incorrect labelling of various figures. This copy retains its original jacket, with a silvery light-blue colour similar to that of the UK first edition. Octavo. Full-page and in-text illustrations and diagrams. Original black quarter cloth, spine lettered and with publisher's device in silver, black paper-covered sides, front cover with author's initials blind-stamped to lower outer corner, light blue endpapers. With dust jacket. Light rubbing; minor toning and creasing to unclipped jacket: a near-fine copy in like jacket.…
