A wartime publication when paper supply was short and which could easily fit into a child's pocket making them very portable, so handy for taking down to the Anderson shelter, and often referred to as shelter books . They were sold through Woolworths and the cover price of threepence subsidised by the adverts on the back cover as here for 'Snowfire Ointment for cuts and scratches'. This example in remarkable condition, the central staple rusted but without 'bleed' onto the adjacent pages.
