C…lement's Opus 1 nos. 1,2 and 3 are settings for Voice and Piano accompaniment of three of de La Mare's poems 'The Horseman', 'Bread and Cherries' and 'The Huntsmen' each decorated with a woodcut designed by Frederick Carter and engraved by W.M.R. Quick. Clement and his wife Dorothea - a keen wood-carver - maintained a studio in Shropshire, and were friends of Frederick Carter who painted three panels on an altar carved by Dorothea, donated in the early 1900s and still in use at St. George's Church, Pontesbury.
