Nel primo tomo è compreso, con proprio occhi…etto, il trattato Ioannis Cassiani De incarnatione Christi libri VII. Legature coeve in piena pergamena, con titoli manoscritti ai dorsi e tagli rossi. Esemplare in buono stato complessivo, con leggera brunitura, sporadiche fioriture e lievi aloni marginali ad alcune carte. Al margine inferiore delle prime 45 carte del primo tomo sono presenti solchi di tarlo, in parte coperti da vecchi restauri, con piccole perdite di testo. Ulteriori solchi di tarlo si riscontrano verso la fine del secondo tomo, più evidenti a partire da pagina 771, interessando in alcuni punti anche il testo con piccole perdite. Importante edizione secentesca delle opere di Giovanni Cassiano, santo e Padre della Chiesa, figura fondamentale per la diffusione del monachesimo in Occidente e fondatore, a Marsiglia, delle comunità monastiche di San Vittore. La raccolta, curata e ampiamente annotata dal benedettino Alard Gazet, comprende gli scritti dedicati all'organizzazione della vita cenobitica, alla disciplina ascetica, al contrasto dei principali vizi, alle conferenze dei Padri del deserto e alla dottrina dell'Incarnazione.
