Aggiungi al carrello39 very large original drawings and watercolours (22 in watercolour and 17 in pencil or pen)- between 30 x 22 and 40 x 24 inches. Each signed on the verso J. N. Chalkley 98 St Julian's Farm Road, West Norwood, SE27 and contained in a portfolio bearing his name. All on artists paper of various thickness -some watermarked Whatman…1950. All are stamped on the verso Brixton School of Building. THE ARTWORK IS OF A HIGH STANDARD. They break into several series- A Tuberculosis Sanatorium (3), A Small Museum (2), A Rectory (4), A Terrace in Clapham (1), A Housing Scheme (2), A Rural Housng Scheme (4), A Music School and Office (4), A Day Nursery (3), A Renaissance Pavilion (4- spotted), A County Primary School (5), A Church Centre (3), A Small Museum (2). The London County Council School of Building was opened on 26th February 1904 to provide a specialist training college for the large number of building workers in Camberwell and Lambeth. The School soon gained a world-wide reputation as a centre of excellence in the fields of town planning, building technology, estate management and building architecture. In 1906 a school of architecture was added. It is assumed N. L. Chalkley was either a student or an architectural lecturer but there is no available information on him. A VERY DECORATIVE COLLECTION.
