Chanin was a Professor of Journalism at the University of Arizona, Tucson. Born in New York, he moved to Tucson, AZ in 1928. He became a true westerner and was even in the movie Arizona, atop his favorite horse. He did sports and editorial writing for 36 years at the Arizona Daily Star. He was also editor and publisher of The Arizona Post, a newspaper for the Tucson Jewish community, and Collegiate Baseball, a national publication. He created and directed the Bloom Southwest Jewish Archives at the University of Arizona (1988-1994). Inscribed by Author(s).
