Neben asphärischen Bauteilen werden zunehmend nicht-rotationssymmetrische Geometrien benötigt, die bei technischen Optiken eine gezielte Lichtverteilung erlauben. Beispiele möglicher medizintechnischer Anwendungen reichen von multifokalen Kontaktlinsen bis hin zu angepassten Intraokularlinsen. Die Umsetzung solcher Bauteile erfordert die Entwicklung und den Aufbau von kompakten und preisgünstigen Ultrapräzisionsmaschinen zur Herstellung optischer Freiformflächen. Die Herstellung nicht rotationssymmetrischer Bauteile kann beispielsweise im Drehprozess mit Hilfe einer hochdynamischen Zusatzachse (Fast-Tool) erfolgen [BrecO4a], [BrecO4b], [BrecO4c]. Hierbei stellt die steuerungstechnische Integration des Fast-Tool-Servo-Systems in den Achsverbund der Maschine eine Hauptaufgabe dar. Die Herstellung von Werkstücken mit optischen Oberflächengüten erfolgt hierbei durch die Bearbeitung mit monokristallinen Diamantwerkzeugen. Diese können aufgrund ihrer me-chanischen Härte extrem scharf zugeschliffen werden und ermöglichen die Bearbeitung mit geometrisch bestimmter Schneide direkt mit optischer Oberflächengüte. Zum Einsatz kommende Ultrapräzisionsmaschinen zeichnen sich durch fluidgelagerte translatorische und rotatorische Verfahrachsen aus, mit denen bei höchster Positioniergenauigkeit minimales Positionierrauschen erreicht wird. Der Antrieb der hochdynamischen Achse erfolgt über einen einphasigen Lineardirektantrieb, beispielsweise Tauchspulenaktorik mit einer Linearendstufe oder einer hochfrequent betriebenen Schaltverstärkerendstufe.
