Mit diesem Sieg und dem gleichzeitigen Tod Karls griff Rene unverhofft in europaische Grossmachtpolitik ein. Der Versuch, diese neue, herausgehobene Stellung seines Hofes zu festigen, manifestiert sich in einer reichen, alle Gattungen umfassenden Stiftungstatigkeit. Ihr Hauptthema ist dabei die Schlacht selbst.
