(cm 14,5 x 19), legatura mezza tela moderna, Cc 12, al frontespizio l'impresa dei Benacci: Corona; deliziosi capilettera raffiguranti fanciulle inseguite in vesti mitologiche e coeve; esemplare in discrete condizioni, integrazione di carta all'angolo superiore del frontespizio, senza perdita di testo. Una macchia marrone, di cm 3 x 4 nella sua massima estensione, al frontespizio, posta sopra l'impresa tipografica, va descrescendo di dimensioni senza mai svanire, per tutte le carte. Il Groto (1541-1585) fu poeta, musicista, commediografo, filosofo, letterato, tragediografo e rimatore, nel 1565 fond? ad Adria l'Accademia degli Illustrati. Precedentemente, nel 1559 aveva fatto ingresso nell'Accademia degli addormentati di Rovigo. Nato ad Adria nel 1541 e morto a Venezia nel 1585, fu detto anche Cieco d'Adria. Di Lui si dice che, pur essendo cieco, abbia suggerito il luogo ove praticare il taglio del fiume Po. Di nobile famiglia, fu uomo di corte, applaudito animatore delle allegre brigate del tempo. Scrisse liriche e madrigali in un linguaggio ricercato, ricco di immagini insolite, come nella presente Orazione, ove si tratta della differenza tra l'uomo e gli animali bruti, questi ultimi vinti dai sensi; i differenti gradi e qualit? delle anime; la bellezza della scienza, e un fervido elogio di grammatica, logica, retorica, aritmetica, geometria, musica, astronomia, filosofia, medicina; e della necessit? delle leggi. Segue un omaggio alla citt? di Bologna e un excursus sull'origine dell'attributo "Felsinea".
