Zumeist bezog er in seine Installationen die Architektur des Ausstellungsortes mit ein und ordnete die sprachlichen oder bildhaften Elemente so an, dass für jede seiner Arbeiten eine ganz spezifische Wahrnehmungsvoraussetzung geschaffen wurde. Die Bewegung des Betrachters im Raum beziehungsweise gegenüber den Kunstwerken bestimmte deren Rezeption. Aus Ján Mancuskas Objekten, Interieurs und bildhaften Sentenzen ergab sich so eine Dramaturgie, die sich in der Vorstellung des Ausstellungsbesuchers zu fiktiven, cineastischen Sequenzen verdichtete. 2005 vertrat der Künstler Tschechien auf der Biennale in Venedig, und er stellte unter anderem auch auf der 4. Berlin Biennale 2006 aus. Die Publikation bietet die erste Gesamtdarstellung seines Werkes. 150 Seiten mit 22 Farb- und 121 s/w-Abb., broschiert (Kunstverein Braunschweig/Hatje Cantz 2011).
