      LIMITED EDITION 335/500. Folio (50 x 38 cm). Half-title+title+pp.[iv]+40 plts. Original half black morocco over marbled boards, marbled endpapers. 40 plates by Lemercier of which 24 are in chromolithography and 16 monochrome. Approximately half of the illustrations relate to Venice/Italy. The complete "Encyclopedie des Arts Decoratifs de l'Orient" ran to 6 volumes comprising Persian Ornament, Arabian, Turkish, Chinese, Japanese and Venetian. The volume offered here is complete in itself. Eugène-Victor Collinot (d. 1882) was a French potter and designer. His books had a seminal influence on the introduction of Islamic decorative art to French artists and Craftsmen, notably Joseph-Théodore Deck. In 1863, Collinot and Adalbert de Beaumont founded their own faïence factory in the Bois de Boulogne, specializing in wares inspired by Persian and Iznik pottery (The Grove Encyclopedia of Decorative Arts).

      Couverture rigide. Condizione: Très bon. grand in-folio (60 x 44 cm), 4 feuillets (dont titre, préface et table), 40 planches en chromolithographie, chemise à lacets demi-toile. Tirage à 500 exemplaire numérotés. Préface G. Frantz, qui nous apprend que c'est en Chine que l'artiste-voyageur Adalbert de Beaumont est allé chercher les modèles qui lui ont permis de former cette collection d'aquarelles. "Aucun autre peuple n'a su réunir dans une aussi admirable harmonie, pour le plaisir des yeux, tous les objets dont se compose le luxueux décor des plus riches appartement." Chemise légèrement défraîchie, des lacets rompus, petites déchirures sans manque en marge de plusieurs planches (loin des illustrations), planche 25 empoussièrée et défraîchie dans les marges.
