DESCRIPTION - A literary mystery set in postwar Britain that was left unfinished by Connolly at his death in 1974. It was completed by Oxford scholar and poet Peter Levi, to whom Connolly divulged the denouement. SHADE THOSE LAURELS features an aristocratic cast of suspects that has gathered at the country estate of famed author Sir Mortimer Gussage to celebrate his birthday and knighthood. When Sir Mortimer meets an untimely death later that evening, it is his young admirer and protege, Stephen Kemble, who unravels the mystery.
