Front and rear cover (and also an interior page) contains the name stamp of F. C. Schrader and this is also stamped inside the book. Frank Charles Schrader (1860-1944) of Harvard and the United States Geological Survey (USGS) was a well-known and respected American geologist, mineralogist, and entomologist, and author. He was known throughout the west as the prospector's friend and was also one of the first federal geologists to explore Alaska. Exterior wraps show only minor spotting and toning along edges. This copy would have been listed as near fine to fine condition but there is a small chip on the left edge of the front cover. The internal binding is good and text pages are tight. The foldout map at page 18 is in beautiful condition with no issues. Text pages are toned due to age with some minor spotting but are otherwise clean. No handwriting present, no library markings. An overall attractive copy which is likely just a spare for the geologist, Mr. Schrader.
