Jahrhunderts mit ihren Vertretern wie u.a. Giuseppe (Josef od. Joseph) Haas-Triverio, Aldo Patocchi, Henri Bischoff, Ernst Würtenberger, Adolf Thomann und Paul Boesch. Die Farboffset-Tafeln sind mit einem hohen Deckungsgrad gedruckt, der einem Siebdruck nahezu gleich kommt. - ?Durant plusieurs anéées, le bon peintre Henry Meylan, passionné de nos fastes militaires et grand connaisseur d?uniformes, dessina et grava, tant au Musée de la Gendarmerie qu?à l?Arsenal de Morges, tout ce qui forme l?iconographie du gendarme vaudois.? (Impressumseite). -- Henry Meylan (Le Sentier 1895-1980 Genève), Maler, Grafiker, Holzschneider und Illustrator, war u.a. Schüler von David Estoppey an der Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Genf. Militärische Sujets gehörten durchaus zu seinen Arbeiten, so dass er im 2. Weltkrieg von der Armee als Militärmaler eingeteilt wurde. Sein Stil lässt sich jedoch nicht als einheitlich beschreiben: ?Dieser schwankt zwischen der Bemühung um Leichtigkeit, rasche Ausführung u. um eindringlichen Ausdruck. [. Meylan gehört] zu den wichtigsten Soldatenmalern des 2. Weltkriegs.? (KLS XX. Jh.). - ?1925 leitete [Charles] Sauter das Lithografieatelier der Simplon SA. Im selben Jahr gründete er mit seinem Schwager Max Roth das auf die Herstellung von Büchern in gediegener Ausstattung spezialisierte Verlagshaus Editions du Verseau in Lausanne. 1940 fusionierten die beiden Unternehmen zur Roth & Sauter AG in Lausanne?
