Clapp loose; 2pp. integral advertisements at end; pp.[2]+[ii]+[5]-209+[i (blank)]+[ii]; vertically ribbed rose-madder cloth, blocked and lettered blind on sides, ruled and lettered gilt on spine; front end-paper printed with publisher's advertisements. Scarce, especially in the somewhat delicate cloth. Issued as volume IV. in 'The Historical Library' series, the advertisement leaf listing this as the latest volume issued, with the fifth volume, 'The History of Scotland', as projected. All the titles are by Miss Corner. The binding, which is series style, is unusual in that the author's name appears close to the tail, where, at a later date, the publisher's imprint might have been.
