Craddock (1923-2010), a leading American geologist and pioneer of Antarctic geological and plate-tectonic studies, the work reflects his influential career at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Craddock's mapping and stratigraphic research provided key evidence for the former connection of West Antarctica to other Gondwanan continents, particularly South America and Africa, and remains central to our understanding of Antarctic tectonic history.
