Illustrated with 20 etched plates mounted on India paper (3 of them hand-coloured), an engraved portrait of Thomas Bewick, and wood-cuts in the text, 14 of them hand-coloured. Red roan-backed cloth, spine titled in gilt, top edge gilt. Numbered with a small blue stamp within a circle in the centre of the half-title verso. Minor tanning, minor use & stains to cloth. A very clean copy of the true large paper edition in the original binding. No. 4 of an edition of only fifty copies. Ownership signature of Thomas Gow, Cambs, 1864. Very scarce.
