Illustrated with photographs by Berenice Abbott, Margaret Bourke-White, Fritz Henle and others. The story of the creation of Rockefeller Center as told at the Nov. 1st, 1939 ceremony in which John D. Rockefeller drove the last rivet in the final building of the complex. This copy comes with two typed letters on Rockefeller Center stationary. The first is from John D. Rockefeller, Jr. and is dated Nov. 13, 1939. He thanks the recipient, W.H. Matthews, for his letter and a quote from Emerson. It is signed in ink by Rockefeller. The second is from Nelson A. Rockefeller and is dated June 11, 1940. In it he thanks Matthews for his prior letter to his father and presents a copy of this book. It is signed in ink at the bottom. The book is in very good condition with some light fading to the front cover and a spot to the upper rear cover. The text is very good with some light tanning and a faint paper-clip mark to the upper front flyleaf. Both letters are very good with light wear. The second letter has a paper clip mark at the top. The scarce jacket is good with some chipping and edgewear and a clear tape repair to the top of the spine. Inscribed by Author(s).
