A smart set of the works of Quintus Curtius, in John Brindley's handsome microscopic type. As bookseller and binder to Frederick, Prince of Wales, Brindley was entitled to to use the 'Feathers' on his title pages, as here. He began his series of Latin Classics in 1744, intending to rival the Elzevirs for small format and fineness of type, and probably would have gone on longer had he not died in 1759. His editor in this series was Usher Gagahan, an Irish philologist who was executed in 1749 for filing gold coins. (ESTC T144277; Graesse II, 312).
