Il 1911 è un tornante fondamentale per le culture politiche italiane: in quell'anno, infatti, il movimento nazionalista fu il protagonista della campagna per la conquista militare della Tripolitania e della Cirenaica, che trasformò il "libicismo" in un sentimento pervasivo di grandezza nazionale. Anche il mondo liberale cominciò a risentire di quelle nuove prospettive: i nazionalisti furono avvertiti come un possibile fattore di ringiovanimento dello stesso liberalismo italiano, costretto quindi a rinnovarsi nelle idee e nei metodi politici. In questo volume s'indagano le forme di delegittimazione politica che si svilupparono in Italia attorno al - e a partire dal movimento nazionalista, e le modalità con cui tale delegittimazione si legò alla presa del potere da parte del fascismo, passando per gli anni cruciali della Grande Guerra. Si cerca dunque di rispondere ad alcuni interrogativi fondamentali: quale fu l'apporto - culturale e politico - del movimento nazionalista alla nascita del regime fascista?
