Er wurde damit zu einem Vordenker des späteren Nationalsozialismus. "Die Judenfrage ." war ein pseudowissenschaftlicher Versuch, dem Antisemitismus als politischer Bewegung ein biologisches, historisches und philosophisches Fundament zu geben. Er beschrieb die "Judenfrage" als Ausdruck eines unaufhebbaren Rassengegensatzes: Das Judentum sei von Natur aus unvermeidbar der Feind aller Kulturvölker, die sich gegen diesen wehren müssten, um nicht unterzugehen. - Innenumschlag mit Bibliothekseintragung, Titel mit Besitzerstempel. Jahrhundert! - Dühring (1833-1921) arbeitete nach dem Jurastudium zunächst bis 1859 als Anwalt, bis die Erblindung ihn zur Aufgabe der Kanzlei und in eine Gelehrtenkarrie…re zwang, die sich bis 1877 im Rahmen der Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität zu Berlin vollzog, mit begleitenden Habilitationen in Philosophie (1863) und Nationalökonomie (1864). Im Jahre 1877 verlor er seine Lehrbefugnis nach Auseinandersetzungen mit der Universität, und Dühring wirkte seither als Privatgelehrter. Hier scheint auch ein entscheidender Wendepunkt in Dührings Leben zu liegen: aus dem durchaus geachteten Vertreter einer an Auguste Comte und Ludwig Feuerbach ausgerichteten positivistischen "Wirklichkeitsphilosophie", der auch mit seinen ökonomischen Ansichten bei Eduard Bernstein und Teilen der SPD Anerkennung und Unterstützung fand, wurde der führende Vertreter eines pseudowissenschaftlich untermauerten Rassenantisemitismus, der auf Leute wie Theodor Fritsch, Houston Stewart Chamberlain oder Georg von Schönerer nachhaltigen Einfluß ausübte und auch durch den "Dühringbund" über seinen Tod hinaus wirkte. Die Kampfschrift Dührings "Die Judenfrage als Racen-, Sitten- und Culturfrage" von 1881 zeigt die Richtung an, die sich in der vorliegenden Schrift, die zuerst im Jahre 1883 erschienen war, weiter radikalisiert. Theodor Herzl erkennt in Dühring einen der Begründer des rassischen Antisemitismus. Dühring findet sogar Erwähnung in Nietzsches "Zur Genealogie der Moral" im Zusammenhang seiner Kritik am "Ressentiment": "Ich erinnere Leser, die Ohren haben, nochmals an jenen Berliner Rache-Apostel Eugen Dühring, der im heutigen Deutschland den unanständigsten und widerlichsten Gebrauch vom moralischen Bumbum macht: Dühring, das erste Moral-Grossmaul, das es jetzt giebt, selbst noch unter seinesgleichen, den Antisemiten" (3.
