Hardcover. xxxviii, [1], 268 p.; 17 cm. (Scott library ; 71) John Dunton issued no. 1 as Athenian gazette on 17 March 1690/91, a single folio sheet. A week later he issued no. 2 as Athenian mercury, which he continued to vol. 20, no. 10, 14 June 1697 (the 30th no. of each vol. to include a preface and index). In 1703-04 Dunton published the Athenian oracle as "an entire collection o what was valuable in the Athenian Mercuries." in 3 vols., with a supplementary vol. in 1710. This selection prints from the original in the Bodleian Library, on p. 259-61, an agreement signed by Sam. Wesley, Richard Sault and John Dunton on 10 April 1691. Good rubbed rose beige cloth. Lacks feps, notes on pastedowns.
