This book is a comprehensive analysis of the 'ius congrui', a medieval right of first refusal held by neighbors and landowners to purchase properties adjacent to their own. The author explores the origins and evolution of this right from ancient Roman law through medieval Italian feudalism to its eventual decline in the early modern period. The book delves into the practical applications of the 'ius congrui' to a variety of legal disputes involving inheritance, dower rights, and property alienation. The author also examines the broader social and economic implications of this right, which played a significant role in shaping the development of urban communities in medieval Italy. Through its detailed examination of legal texts, case studies, and theoretical analysis, the book offers a unique and important contribution to our understanding of medieval property law and its relevance to the development of modern legal systems. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.
