Paperback. Condizione: New. Print on Demand. This book is a fascinating account of a dispute between the author, a mining engineer, and a naval captain over the design of a new type of water pump. The author argues that the captain's design is flawed, while the captain insists that it is superior to the existing pumps. The dispute is ultimately resolved in favor of the author, but not before he has had to overcome considerable opposition and skepticism. The book is not just a technical treatise on water pumps. It is also a valuable historical document that sheds light on the state of engineering and technology in the early 19th century. The author's detailed descriptions of the pumps and their operation provide a fascinating glimpse into the challenges faced by engineers of the time. More broadly, the book explores the theme of innovation and the resistance to change. The author's design for the new pump was a radical departure from the existing technology, and it met with considerable resistance from those who were used to the old ways of doing things. The book shows how the author was able to overcome this resistance and ultimately bring his new design to fruition. This book is a valuable contribution to the history of engineering and technology. It is also a fascinating read for anyone interested in the theme of innovation and the resistance to change. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.…
