Grabados geométricos y esferas dentro de texto. Encuadernación moderna en pergamino. Ejemplar con restauraciones en la portada y esquina superior de las 11 primeras paginas afectando solo al margen; una hoja de los preliminares con reintegracion de papel en el margen inferior. Anotaciones manuscritas caligráficas y de operaciones aritméticas en algunas de las hojas, escritas de buena mano y en una de ellas se puede leer: "en Sevilla a nueve de mayo de noventa y quatro años [.]" / otra: "en la ciudad de Sevilla a nueve dias del mes de mayo de mil y quinientos e noventa y nueve [.] fue acordado por don Joan Perez de Guzmán vezino de la villa de Madrid [.]". Ejemplar completo y como todos los ejemplares falto de la hoja con la signatura "T4" ( que deveria ser el folio 76), y que presumiblemente era blanco y separaba la parte impresa en lengua castellana (hasta el folio 75v) de la parte en lengua latina que se inicia en el folio numerado por error 73 (77) i es signatura "V". El ejemplar del British Library (sign. 529.g.30) igual al nuestro, y con la anotacion a lapiz en una hoja de guarda, haciendo la precisión sobre la falta de esa hoja. El ejemplar de la Biblioteca de Andalucia, reproducido electronicamente, está igualmente falto de esa hoja. El ejemplar digitalizado por Google, igualmente presenta esta falta. El ejemplar de la Biblioteca Virtual Miguel de Cervantes (perteneciente a la B. N. E), también falto de esa hoja, que se aprecia ha sido arrancada del lomo. Edición original de toda rareza en el mercado de libros antiguos, aun que figura en diversas bibliotecas españolas y del mundo. Esta importante obra sobre el uso de la Ballestilla en la navegación se inicia con una carta que dirige el autor al doctor Pedro Gutierrez Flores, Presidente de la Real Audiencia de la Contratacion de Sevilla: "Aviendo mandado el Rey nuestro señor a Pedro Ambrosio Onderiz, su Cosmographo mayor, que viniesse a Sevilla a informarse del orden que podria haver en la enmienda de los yerros que ay en las cartas de marear, i del abuso de los otros instrumentos de que se aprovechan los mareantes en la navegación de las Indias: para averse de reformar todo. y conociendo yo el gran provecho que de tal informacion se seguiria, quise tomar a mi cargo lo que me parecio mas necessidad della: que fue enmendar las reglas que hasta aqui tenian los mareantes con que se observaban las alturas de las tierras, por las alturas que tomavan de la estrella Polar con la ballestilla: siendo este instrumento el mas usado en esta navegación, i el que tienen ellos generalmente por el mas importante de todos; y las reglas que para el uso del tienen tan depravadas que nadie se podrá persuadir a creer los errores que en ellas ay, si no fuere el que entendiere las demonstraciones con que lo manifiesto en este tratado [.]". 21,5x15 cm.…
