Kaufmann. 1848-49 kommandierte D. im venetian. Unabhängigkeitskampf gegen Österreich eine trotz Verbot selbst geworbene Schweizerkompanie. 1852-58 thurg. Regierungssekretär, 1858-73 Bezirksstatthalter von Frauenfeld, 1864-73 Grossrat, 1868 Verfassungsrat. Der Unterschlagung bezichtigt, trat D. aus den polit. Ämtern zurück und beging Selbstmord.
