From the library of Prof. Wolfgang Haase, long-time editor of ANRW and the International Journal of the Classical Tradition (IJCT). - slightly scuffed otherwise perfect condition - For the student of ancient Greek religion and mythology, as well as for the student of Greek inscriptions, one of the rarest reference works in academic and research libraries that has yet to be reprinted is the Leges Graecorum Sacrae edited by Joannes de Prott and L. Ziehen (Part I: Leipzig, 1896/Part II: Leipzig, 1906). The few copies of the set preserved in some of the major academic libraries are by now in rather bad condition due to their continuous heavy use by students and faculty and, as if that were not enough, by the natural decay of the bad quality paper used for the original edition. The Leg. Sacr. has been out of print since 1910, and the few copies that became available since then to the second-hand book trade were immediately absorbed by libraries and research scholars. Since 1955 when an additional volume to the Leg. Sacr. on the Greek sacred laws of Asia Minor1 was published by Franciszek Sokolowski, I do not recall even seeing Prott-Ziehen listed in any antiquarian bookseller's catalogue. Things became worse after 1962, when Sokolowski published his Supplement to the Leg. Sacr., clarifying that he did not plan to issue a new edition of the epigraphical texts collected by Prott-Ziehen.2 Personally speaking, despite my constant efforts to locate a copy of the Leg. Sacr. for my reference library, I still do not have one. ISBN 9780890054789 la Gewicht in Gramm: 594.
