Aggiungi al carrelloHardback. Condizione: New. With TraumA, the Triennial of Bruges dives into the 'uncanny' history and reality of Bruges. Historical layers are exposed, forgotten or hidden storylines discussed. This edition explores the thin line between dream and trauma, between paradise and hell. It appeals to the imagination, to the pomp and circumstance, but also to the 'uncanny' that is present underground. For although Bruges seems to be a dream destination for many, poverty, loneliness, pollution or fear also lurk in this picture-perfect world.Triennial Bruges 2021: TraumA uses artistic and architectural interventions to bring the less attractive aspects to the surface and make them part of the city's image. It creates a polyphonic discourse, where there is room for imagination, beauty, darkness and complexity. A space where artists and architects can explore both the stage and the dusty wings. Triennial Bruges 2021: TraumA balances between the present and the hidden. With a course of sculptural, architectural and organic creations, it is a celebration of the versatility and mobility of this city. Between private and public. Between dream and nightmare.Text in English and Dutch.

Allora & Calzadilla, Vaughn Bell, Joseph Beuys, Guillaume Bijl, Ross Bleckner, Gillian Brett, Dorota Buczkowska, Damien Cadio, Chih Chiu, David Claerbout, Christine Clinckx, Caroline Coolen, Peter De Cupere, Anuna De Wever, Daniël Dewaele, Lise Duclaux, Nick Ervinck, Tanya Goel, Joanna Hadjithomas & Khalil Joreige, Eckart Hahn, Paul Harfleet, Riitta Ikonen & Karoline Hjorth. En bijdragen van: Michel Dewilde, Valérie Trouet, prof. Dr. George McKay, Anuna De Wever en Philippe Daelemans.*********** What is the impact of humans on nature, and what are the consequences of this for our environment? The ambitious exhibition Rebel Garden (from April 13 to September 1, 2024) breaks out of the traditional museum walls and takes over no fewer than three museum locations. Ancient and current art examine the tumultuous relationship between humans and nature and put their finger on the painful wound called the climate crisis. The central theme 'garden' - symbol for care, creation and resistance - connects the three locations of Rebel Garden: the Groeninge Museum, the Gruuthuse Museum and the Museum Sint-Janshospitaal. Gardens are local barometers of the state of the planet: they are part of our residential ideal and at the same time a place of resistance where the consequences of ecological changes are becoming increasingly visible. An ideal starting point to test our complex relationship with nature. Rebel Garden addresses extremely current themes such as the consequences of global warming, the sixth mass extinction and climate activism, the symbiosis of man with nature and the relationship between the artist and the garden. With work by Allora & Calzadilla, Vaughn Bell, Joseph Beuys, Guillaume Bijl, Ross Bleckner, Gillian Brett, Dorota Buczkowska, Damien Cadio, Chih Chiu, David Claerbout, Christine Clinckx, Caroline Coolen, Peter De Cupere, Anuna De Wever, Daniël Dewaele, Lise Duclaux, Nick Ervinck, Tanya Goel, Joanna Hadjithomas & Khalil Joreige, Eckart Hahn, Paul Harfleet, Riitta Ikonen & Karoline Hjorth. / richly illustr. in colour and b/w., in goede staat (stofwikkel met wat gebruikssporen aan de randen en hoeken, verder zeer goed) / in good condition (dustjacket with some traces of use on the edges and corners, otherwise very good) + 1 CD. / The ?Gynaika train? was a unique artistic project organised in Belgium in 1996 by the Gynaika association, in which a special train travelled through the country carrying female artists (such as Marina Abramovi?) and various carriages that had been converted into mobile exhibitions and workspaces, as part of a larger initiative focusing on women and art, in collaboration with the NMBS. This publication, which was published on the occasion of this Gynaika train, consists of a combination of theoretical texts, artistic reflections and project documentation. The contributions are grouped thematically around concepts such as displacement, border crossing, identity and public space. Various artistic disciplines are covered, including visual arts, performance and interventions in public space. The railway serves as a connecting motif that carries both historical and contemporary meanings. The publication positions itself explicitly within feminist discourse and emphasises the role of female artists and collectives in redefining artistic and social trajectories. Gynaika is a Belgian feminist collective and publishing house that has been committed to the visibility of women in art, culture and society since the late twentieth century. Through publications, exhibitions and research projects, Gynaika stimulates critical reflection on gender, power and representation.
