Jeremias Drexel (also Drexelius or Drechsel; 1581-1638). German Jesuit, preacher, and prolific author of devotional works; he served for many years as court preacher to Duke Maximilian I of Bavaria and his wife Elisabeth, the dedicatees of this volume.
