First published in a dust-jacketed edition in 1949, this is the First British Picture Cover Edition from 1971 (First, thus). With brightly decorated paper over boards & a bright green spine, this 12mo has 188 pages, with pen-and-ink illustrations & cover art by Gilbert Dunlop. Condition is VG: completely clean, pages show moderate tanning, heavier around edges, but are completely unmarked. Binding strong & straight, hinges secure. Exterior shows moderate rubbing to extremities, with pushing to both ends of spine & significant corner bumping. DJ cover art & internal pen-&i-ink illustrations again by Gilbert Dunlop. Condition is VG: very clean save for small spot to front board. Pages show moderate tanning, heavier in front matter & around edges, with light staining to exterior fore edge & offsetting to all endpapers. Unmarked save for former owner's name in neat pen & Australian bookstore sticker inside front cover. Binding strong & straight, hinges secure. Just a hint of bumping to corners. The unclipped DJ is also VG, with slight rubbing to extremities, heavier at both ends of spine & corners; nicely protected by former owner in nonreflective mylar cover.
