A single issue of this magazine, featuring an article 'Progress of Thought in the Church,' by Henry Ward Beecher; an examination of unions and their role in labor and labor relations in an essay 'The Organization of Labor,' by T.V. Powderly; an essay 'Woman's Work and Woman's Wages' by Charles W. Elliott in which he cites statistics that demonstrate the physical and mental harm on women in the work force, including mill work, etc., and stating that working women live a poor, hard life that in general, denegrates society. The essay also addresses women's suffrage, stating this is an added burden on women. GOOD condition. Some chipping, tearing and loss to the wraps at the head and tail of the spine and corners. This includes a 2 inch in area section a the head of the spine. Uneven fading, mior soiling and some offsetting the wraps. Faint pencil note, women wages, on the upper front cover. Some chipping, tearing and creasing along the fore edges. Interior clean and solid.
