An interesting narrative of travels on the eastern slope of the Andes in the Amazon jungles of Peru, with the original purpose to ascertain the feasibility of aerial transportation in the remote areas. The author describes the area including the Muratos Indians from the Pastaza river, with his illustrations including some shrunken heads. The second edition of 1924 had only half the illustrations. There is a large card pasted down to front free endpaper which says 'From Author' and has the name Norah in the same hand. Armorial bookplate on inside front cover with the name Mary Elizabeth Milroy. George Miller Dyott was a very early aviator, flying planes of his own design less than a decade after the Wright Brothers. He was part of the second British expedition up the Amazon River. He went back in 1928 in search of the lost expedition of Col Fawcett, and that became the subject of this book. This volume comes from the collection of Dr. Thomas Lovejoy, who was a passionate book collector as well as a renowned biologist.
