Eastham was an influential British Columbia botanist and a cofounder of the University of British Columbia's Department of Botany. Eastham also served as Provincial Plant Pathologist in BC and amassed one of the largest collections of pressed plants and fungi in the province, which are now housed at the University of British Columbia herbarium.
