Derek Vane was the pseudonym under which Blanche Eaton wrote 20 novels between 1893 & 1933 including "Lady Varley "which in 1923 was made into a silent film under the title Modern Marriage staring Francis X. Bushman,"Paradise of Fools" was however her most successful novel in which a woman thinks her husband has died during a quarrel in which he hits his head. The book is dedicated to the Irish nationalist T.P.O'Connor who favourably reviewed her first book "Three Daughters of Night " unaware of her real identity 8vo. 320pps plus 12pp publishers catalogue dated 1912. Original cloth with repaired damage to the spine. A clean sound reading copy of a scarce title.
