Paper. Condizione: Good. First Edition. Two Original Hand Written Letters by Writer Eden Phillpotts to Probably Fellow Writer Charlotte Mary Matheson. Dated 1901 and 1926. Letter dated 1926 thanks Matheson who was a Cornish writer at the time for the gift of the book . He praises the book 'I have seen enough to relish your fine flavour. You make me want to go to Cornwall again'. The second letter dated 1901 introduces his cousin Percy 'one of the right sort. an old servant of your company and wishes to rejoin Donald Currie and Co in a home-staying capacity, knows Captain Wiseley, hopes he, wife and bairn are well' Eden Phillpotts 1862-1960 was an English author, poet and dramatist. He was born in Mount Abu, India, was educated in Plymouth, Devon. Eden Phillpotts maintained a steady output of three or four books a year for the next half century. He produced poetry, short stories, novels, plays and mystery tales. Many of his novels were about rural Devon life and some of his plays were distinguished by their effective use of regional dialect.Phillpotts was a friend of Agatha Christie, who was an admirer of his work and a regular visitor to his home. She dedicated her 1932 novel Peril at End House to Phillpotts, and in her autobiography, she expressed gratitude for his early advice on fiction writing. Sizes are 230mm x 180mm. Condition is good.
