For six years he preached, to a packed Holy Trinity Church Brighton, radical sermons that became renowned throughout Britain. He did missionary work there, founded a working men's institute and had a considerable impact on the life of the city. Bookplate and ownership signature in each volume. Full leather with some minor marks. Marbled endpapers and edges. Both leather spine labels missing from vol II and one from vol I. Joints worn, and tip of spine of vol I worn. A piece of the top edges of both half-titles have been cut off where inscription was written. Some handwritten notes at the end of both vols. A little foxing to prelims.
