As a result, most of these truly daring magazines have disappeared, confiscated or hidden (unintentionally, for good) by their original owners, never to be seen or found again save the few surviving copies that have turned up as this. Since the present tendency in terms of censorship is to go back in time instead of forge progressively ahead in America, with some politicians actually calling for an outright ban on all explicit material - straight, gay, and "exotic" -, the very existence of these magazines from the not-so-distant past (1969) warrants their being saved and collected.
