Aggiungi al carrelloPaperback. Condizione: New. Print on Demand. This book provides a comprehensive overview of the Poor Laws in England from their inception to the early nineteenth century, focusing on how the legal framework developed to address issues related to poverty, vagrancy, and the provision of poor relief. The author traces the evolution of settlement laws, the role of justices of the peace in administering poor relief, and the impact of industrialization and urbanization on the system. A significant portion of the book is dedicated to case law and statutes that shaped the interpretation and implementation of the Poor Laws, providing valuable insights into legal reasoning and social policy during this period. The concluding chapters examine the challenges faced by the Poor Law system and the emergence of alternative approaches to social welfare in the nineteenth century. This book contributes to our understanding of the development of social welfare policy in England and serves as a valuable resource for scholars, policymakers, and anyone interested in the history of poverty and social justice. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.

This work was compiled by Edmund Bott. In full calf binding. Externally, worn to the boards and to the spine. Patches of rubbing to the spine.
