Folliot de Crenneville-Poutet (1815-1888): "Vor allem muß ich mein Schreiben mit der instaendigen Bitte um Vergebung wegen der Versprechung meiner Antwort auf jene Anfrage eröffnen, deren mich Euer Excellenz in so überaus ehrender Weise würdigten. Ich war mir eben lange nic…ht klar, und bin es leider heute auch noch nicht, ob das Blatt, welches ich nach einigem Suchen unter den Flugblaettern der Hofbibliothek fand, wirklich identisch sei mit jenem in der Sammlung Euer Excellenz. Das bezügliche Blatt der kais. Kupferstichsammlung ist ein Holzschnitt, nicht gerade schlecht gezeichnet, einfach schattiert: Christus am Kreuze. Ein Bauer, auf der rechten Seite des Bildes, hat mit einem Saebel einen Hieb nach dem Halse des Gekreuzigten geführt, so daß dessen Kopf vom Rumpfe getrennt, letzterer bereits von Blut überströmt ist [.] Ich würde mich glücklich schaetzen, wenn ich mit diesen Andeutungen den Wünschen Euer Excellenz einigermaßen entsprochen haben sollte [.]". - Chmelarz war an der Albertina und am österreichischen Museum für Kunst und Industrie tätig, ehe er 1885 an die Hofbibliothek wechselte, wo er schließlich Vizedirektor und Leiter des Kupferstichkabinetts wurde. - Graf Folliot de Crenneville-Poutet war von 1867 (dem Jahr, in dem er zum Ritter des Ordens vom Goldenen Vlies ernannt wurde) bis 1884 Oberstkämmerer Kaiser Franz Josephs I. und erwarb sich große Verdienste um die kaiserlichen Sammlungen.
