No. 678 of 1025 limited edition copies, and the first edition of this uncommon work, in a quarter cloth binding with paper boards. Signed by the author and illustrator Edward J. Burrow to the limitation page. Ink inscription to the front free end paper. An interesting study of the promontory fortresses, hill forts, camps, and other earthworks of Somerset, covering the Romans, Saxons, Danes and Norman Conquest. Illustrated throughout, including wash and line drawings by Burrow, and a folding map of Somerset to the rear. Collated, complete. Edward J. Burrow (1869-1934) was a prodigious engraver, and also the founder of the printing and publishing firm Edward J. Burrow and Co.
