The lyrics to this song are from a poem by Burns that is sometimes referred to as "Sweet Afton," and sometimes referred to as "Afton Water," (as on the front wrapper of this publication) though when presented as a song, it is typically referred to as "Flow Gently Sweet Afton" (this title appears above the score). There are multiple compositions set to this poem, but according to Wikipedia the most widely known is the 1837 composition by Jonathan E. Spilman. This version by Edward J.
