Den ersten Grundstock, ja ich kann wohl geradezu sagen, den ganzen Anstof! lieferte ein Kapitel von anscheinend unterge ordn…eter Bedeutung, nämlich die Anatomie der 'Klappenmusku latur'. Dieser Abschnitt bildete einen Teil aus der von mir bearbeiteten, aber bisher nur zum kleinsten Teil veröffentlichten Preisaufgabe der Greifswalder medizinischen Fakultät aus dem Jahre 1885, deren Thema lautete: 'Nach vorausgeschickter historisch kritischer Übersicht über die bisher vorliegenden Untersuchungen sollen anatomische, histologische, physiologische Untersuchungen angestellt werden über die Muskulatur des Endocardium, der Herzklappen, der V enae cavae, der V enae pulmonales und der eigenen Herzgefäf!e bei W armblütem. ' Aus dieser Arbeit habe ich den Teil, welcher die Anatomie der Klappenmuskulatur behandelt, nur unter Vomahme einiger Kürzungen, unverändert übernommen, die funktionelle Bedeutung der genannten Muskulatur habe ich dagegen einer kleinen Über arbeitung unterzogen, um die für die vorliegenden Zwecke wichtigen Punkte besser hervorzuheben. Nun, die hierbei zu Tage getretenen Resultate führten mich zu weiteren Überlegungen und Unter suchungen und diese lief!en mich die mich zunächst selber frappierende Erfahrung machen, daä einzelne auf anatomische Verhältnisse Bezug nehmende Behauptungen der Physiologen, die jedoch fundamentale Sätze aus der Lehre vom Bewegungsmodus der Kammermuskulatur behandelten, bedeutende Irrtümer zur Voraussetzung hatten. Zuerst von autoritativer Seite ausgesprochen, waren sie von Jahr zu Jahr, von Jahrzehnt zu Jahrzehnt immer weiter gelehrt worden.

Neuware -Im folgenden übergebe ich der Öffentlichkeit eine Studien reihe, die mich seit einer grof!en Reihe von Jahren beschäftigt. Den ersten Grundstock, ja ich kann wohl geradezu sagen, den ganzen Anstof! lieferte ein Kapitel von anscheinend…unterge ordneter Bedeutung, nämlich die Anatomie der 'Klappenmusku latur'. Dieser Abschnitt bildete einen Teil aus der von mir bearbeiteten, aber bisher nur zum kleinsten Teil veröffentlichten Preisaufgabe der Greifswalder medizinischen Fakultät aus dem Jahre 1885, deren Thema lautete: 'Nach vorausgeschickter historisch kritischer Übersicht über die bisher vorliegenden Untersuchungen sollen anatomische, histologische, physiologische Untersuchungen angestellt werden über die Muskulatur des Endocardium, der Herzklappen, der V enae cavae, der V enae pulmonales und der eigenen Herzgefäf!e bei W armblütem. ' Aus dieser Arbeit habe ich den Teil, welcher die Anatomie der Klappenmuskulatur behandelt, nur unter Vomahme einiger Kürzungen, unverändert übernommen, die funktionelle Bedeutung der genannten Muskulatur habe ich dagegen einer kleinen Über arbeitung unterzogen, um die für die vorliegenden Zwecke wichtigen Punkte besser hervorzuheben. Nun, die hierbei zu Tage getretenen Resultate führten mich zu weiteren Überlegungen und Unter suchungen und diese lief!en mich die mich zunächst selber frappierende Erfahrung machen, daä einzelne auf anatomische Verhältnisse Bezug nehmende Behauptungen der Physiologen, die jedoch fundamentale Sätze aus der Lehre vom Bewegungsmodus der Kammermuskulatur behandelten, bedeutende Irrtümer zur Voraussetzung hatten.
