An Dietmar angeschlossen, weil gerade mit ihm vielfach verbunden, wurden die altertümlichen deutschen Strophen der CB, in zwei Gruppen: zunächst die durch Schumanns Kritik als alt erwiesenen Strophen, die unmittelbar in die Zeit des frühen Minnesangs, teilweise vielleicht darüber hinaus reichen; zweitens aber auch eine Gruppe von ersichtlich jüngeren, in Einzelheiten vom höfischen Minnesang beeinflußten Strophen, die aber etwas wie eine Unterströmung der älteren Lyrik bis weit ins 13. Jahrhundert hinein darstellen - eine wichtige Ergänzung zu den Beobachtungen an der frühen Volksballade. Friedrich von Hausen bedeutet den Sieg der neuen, höfischen Kunst. Seine beiden ältesten Lieder lassen noch zum letztenmal den alten Klang vernehmen; dann beginnt, mit neuen geistigen Mitteln, zierlicher und beweglicher, zugleich aber auch enger, der höfische Minnesang. Unsere Untersuchung führt zu der Anschauung, daß der frühe Minnesang ein eigener Formkreis ist und nicht nur den "klas-sischen" entwicklungsgeschichtlich vorbereitet.
