Certains auteurs considèrent le contexte surplombant les études littéraires : les conditions de formation ont pesé sur l'épistémologie de la didactique de la littérature et sur les fondements mêmes de l'acte de transmettre. D'autres chercheurs se penchent sur l'objet littéraire dans sa dimension praxéologique et analysent les orientations contemporaines dans l'interprétation littéraire, les oeuvres lues en classe et leurs différents supports, les dispositifs didactiques qui peuvent le mieux épouser les formes des évolutions spécifiques au début du XXI e siècle. Enfin, des didacticiens étudient les curricula de formation des maitres, afin d'évaluer si les cursus proposés aux étudiants sont des accélérateurs ou des freins dans la mutation constatée.Ce livre problématise ainsi ces diverses facettes de l'enseignement de la littérature, en variant les points de vue et en associant des orientations littéraires, didactiques, sociologiques et historiques.
