Between these two end points lie any number of avenues of exploration. This study focuses in large measure on the expressed satisfactions and dissatisfactions of the givers and receivers of outpatient carethe staff and the patients. The result is this extensive volume which will provide the reader with a comprehensive picture of an outpatient department in a large metropolitan setting, its clientele, administration, patterns of service, and changes which occur as a result of innovations designed to improve patient care and staff morale. It is perhaps unfortunate that research must be presented with what may appear to be an overabundance of facts and figures, but the discerning reader will be able to study those areas which are of particular interest to him and will find the summary at the conclusion of each chapter helpful in highlighting the findings of this study.
