Hardcover. Condizione: Fair. Green cardboard boards are bare, perhaps were once covered with leather or decorative paper, spines covered with darker green library cloth tape. Corners bumped and worn, light water staining, tape on Volume 1 is torn down the back of the spine, light other edge wear. Unevenly cut page edges are tanned. Ex-seminary-library with a few neat indications, no card pocket. Binding broken or breaking at hinges and loosening a bit in general, but all pages are present and secure. Pages somewhat tanned and foxed but clean, notes on first free end page of Volume 1 are the only other markings. Packaged carefully for shipment in cardboard with U. S. tracking. This set will require extra postage for priority or international shipment.

This is his concordance to the Greek New Testament, based on Beza's famous New Testament of 1565, and the version published by Samuel Selfisch at Wittenberg in 1583. Michael Endter was a bookseller/printer working in Nuremberg throughout the 1650s. The emblematic title page (and almost certainly the frontispiece portrait of Schmid, depicting him writing at his desk) is by the German painter and engraver Joachim von Sandrart (1606-1688). Sandrart was a friend of Rubens, with whom he travelled round the Netherlands in the mid 1620s. He lived and worked in Amsterdam from 1637-1642, before moving to Germany. From 1656 he lived in Nuremberg, where he had first learned the art of engraving. There he founded an academy of arts (in 1662), and published his magnus opus,Teutsche Academie der Edlen Bau-Bild-und Mahlerie-kunste (1675) a comprehensive illustrated history of art and artists, which is still the key source book for art history from that period. He died in Nuremberg in 1688.
