Her face and shoulders are shown; her right hand is raised up to her face as she poses. 8" x 10." "A D - 9 d," shorthand for the actress's initials, is printed on front. Printed description tipped in on back. Also on back are purple stamps designating the photographer and RKO copyright. Photo is virtually pristine and intact except for slight bumping at the bottom corners. A Fine copy. The description reads, "Arlene Dahl, who is co-starred with John Payne and Rhonda Fleming in the Benedict Bogeaus Production, 'Slightly Scarlet,' filmed in Superscope and Technicolor. RKO Radio will distribute the film." Arlene Dahl (b. 1925) is an American film actress who appeared in a number of MGM movies. Slightly Scarlet (1956) is a film noir based on James M. Cain's book, Love's Lovely Counterfeit. In the movie, Dahl plays an ex-con who is part of a complicated love triangle including crooked cops, crime bosses, and her sister.

Original black-and-white publicity photograph showing an up-close portrait of Kay Sutton smiling and wearing the "lapel gadget" being advertised. 8" x 10." Imprint of "R" in lower-right corner on front. A typed description is tipped in on back and folded onto the front (description can be folded down). Two purple stamps on back. One is a copyright stamp of RKO Radio Pictures. The other reads, "Photo by Ernest A. Bachrach." Photo is very clean and intact except for slight wrinkling and bumped corners. A Very Good copy. Kay Sutton (1915-1988) was an American actress. The description reads, "Special Service B38119-10; Gadget; Lapel Gadget worn by Kay Sutton, currently appearing with Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers in 'The Castles,' is a complete makeup kit -- compact, lipstick, mirror.; - Exclusive in Your City -." RKO Radio Pictures was one of five major studios in Hollywood's Golden Age.

Signed by Louis Hayward in black ink on front, "For [?] Li [.?], My very best wishes, Louis." Stamped copyright date of 1938 on back. 8" x 10." Photo is very clean and intact except for a few wrinkles, slight age toning to front and back, slightly bumped corners, and one pinhole each in the top and bottom margins about center (pinholes do not affect actual image area). A Very Good copy. Copyright information stamped in purple ink on back. Copyright information includes credit to photographer Ernest A. Bachrach, copyright date, and credit to RKO Radio Pictures, Inc. Louis Hayward (1909-1985) was a British-American stage, movie, and television actor. Hayward made a name for himself on Broadway, which caught the attention of Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, who signed him on. Hayward also worked for other movie studios including Warner Bros., Universal, and RKO Radio Pictures. He worked his way up to lead roles in movies such as The Luckiest Girl in the World (1936) and Midnight Intruder (1938). Hayward also starred in the television series, The Lone Wolf (1954). Set in 1840s rural Scotland, Katharine Hepburn played the gypsy girl Babbie. The book by J. M. Barrie offered yet another spirited role for Hepburn during her early film years. Babbie establishes a romantic relationship with the new-to-town minister played by John Beal. This photo is from the estate of John Beal. It is coded NY & A 9-92-LT and on the verso is the RKO / Ernest A. Bachrach photographer ink stamp.

Katharine Hepburn played the small town Indiana girl who wants to improve her social status in this adaptation of Booth Tarkington's Pulitzer Prize-winning 1921 novel. Walter Plunkett designed a simple contemporary to 1935 wardrobe for her, but for this glamour portrait she wears a lace and crocheted top with diamond clips. Photo is coded NY Q-324.

Collection of 259 vintage reference photographs from the 1944 film, including many candid shots, and three borderless test photographs with printed mimeo snipes affixed to the verso. Test photographs with the stamp of still photographer Ernest A. Bachrach to the verso, all others with the stamp of still photographer John Miehle to the verso. An early, low-budget exploitation film focusing on juvenile delinquency, about a group of troubled teenagers searching for purpose while their parents are distracted by World War II. Noted Hollywood Ten director Edward Dmytryk was originally slated to direct, but left to direct the propaganda film "Tender Comrade" (1943) instead. 8 x 10 inches. Generally Very Good plus, with light edgewear, age toning, and creasing throughout.
